Newhailes House is one of the most significant acquisitions made by the National Trust for Scotland and one of the most ambitious ‘preserve as found’ conservation projects ever attempted.
New, sophisticated water, electrical, telecommunications, fire detection and prevention, intruder detection and environmental control systems have been introduced, but almost invisibly, with minimal interference to the existing fabric.
This project won the Europa Nostra Award for Conservation and the RIBA Award for Conservation 2003. |
